In one of my classes this past semester I was further introduced to digital work. So for some Christmas gifts this year I decided to do some little paintings and just different digital pieces. They aren't anything outrageous, but they were fun to make! Enjoy!

Figure Part 1

I was fortunate enough to be able to fit a figure class into my schedule this past semester. It has been great to get back into the habit of doing more drawing. I have truly noticed an improvement in my work over these past couple years.

This is a selection of some of my figure work from the first half of the semester. We had to submit a portfolio for the class during midterms and finals, so these are some that were in my midterm portfolio. Enjoy!

REVAMP

It certainly has been a while since I've posted. I finished with my fall semester just last friday and boy was it a relief. I've been wanting to post for a while because I've got a lot to post, but it has just been so busy this semester.

Now for the title of this post...I have decided that I want to revamp my blog. I redid the style of it, the title of it, and I want to post different things. I've found myself only posting my animations, but lately I've been trying to do other things, other art. So from here on out, you'll find me not only posting my animations, but my art as well.

So as my winter break proceeds, I will be posting more of my work, including new work that I've been doing in my spare time. Enjoy and keep checking back in!

Waiting, that's the project. Sounds fun right? It actually was! Our assignment was to animate a person waiting. It could be for someone, for something, for anything as long as they were waiting. I took mine in terms of a chauffeur waiting for someone at the airport. This was the last assignment in the series of little animation projects, now we are on to the big one for the semester...the Push Pull. I will try to keep you updated on how that one is going throughout different points of it, so keep checking in. Enjoy!

Silhouette- It's all about the pose!

Alright, so here is our second computer animation project for the year. It's another quick exercise like the walk cycle and we had about a week and a half to work on it. The basis of the project was that we were each given six words to choose three from. The three that we chose were the foundation of our animation and we had to get across those three emotions through our poses. The three words I chose were: hopeful, confused, and panicked. My story went something like this... Arti (the character) is hopeful that his love will come out from her window to see him, but gets confused when she doesn't end up coming out and finally panics when he hears her dad's voice yelling. Short and sweet, but it gives him some character. Enjoy!

The Start of a New Year: Junior Year

It's been a busy summer, but I'm back at Ringling now and we're already done with the first two weeks of school. We are off to a running start with lots of assignments and lots of work. Although, I must say I am enjoying them all quite a bit right now. I'm excited for the upcoming year and all that I will encounter, but also nervous due to the fact that second semester means pitching a thesis idea...scary. I should be posting quite a bit of work as the year moves forward, but here is the first project of CA (Computer Animation) for this semester.

It is just a walk cycle, but our teacher told us to show him what we could do, so I did my best in the time allotted. We were given the character and told to animate. I gave the character a happy go-lucky kind of attitude, almost as if he just had his first kiss. Enjoy!

Sit Stand!!!

Sorry it's been so long without a post... We've been working on the largest project of the year in our Computer Animation class, so it's been really busy. But here it is! This is my Sit Stand. The requirements were that the character comes into the scene, sits down, reacts to something, and leaves in a different manner. Sounds easy right...? No, not at all. It was quite the challenge to get all of this done and it has taken A LOT of time, but it has all been worth it. I'm quite pleased with my final product and I hope you enjoy it as well! Feel free to leave comments, feedback is always welcome!

PS: For this project, we came up with the story, designed the character, modeled the character (built him on the computer), rigged the character (made it so he could move)(including all of the facial expressions), did all of the textures and colors, modeled the environment, lit the scene, and animated it! Pheeewww

Robie the Robot Banker

Meet Robie! He is another modeling project like the penguin. Although they are both modeling, they are extremely different to make. We only had a couple weeks to model him, but I spent a lot of time on him. Even with all the time put in, there was a lot more I could have done to him. Enjoy!

Animation Exercises

Each one has a specific goal about what it is supposed to teach us. They are also to help us prep for our upcoming project, which is the SitStand project. Simple Poly Exercises

YAY!!! The semester is officially over! It has been a very tiring semester, but I have learned so much. This is my final Computer Animation assignment. It was a collection of different exercises: a jump, walk, and turn. We had to complete the exercises using a "simple poly" character or as my teacher likes to put it, an object with legs. I went through different character designs, but decided on a simple mailbox. I decided to use a more simple character because I wanted to focus more on the animation of the character and less on the design of him. This was a great assignment and definitely taught me a lot. Enjoy!

Thief Animatic

This is our final project for Concept I. It is an animatic, a video of drawings from the main beats of a story. The assignment was to create a story where one character wanted to steal a bite of another character's food. We also had to have one character that was non-human. My story involves a rat and a chef...no not ratatouille...just watch and enjoy!

The end of fall semester is here! It's finals week and we're working hard! I'll have a lot of new work being posted next week, once finals and everything else finally settle down and I get to relax for a little bit. Phew, what a semester!

Penguin Model

This is our 3D Penguin Model. It is an assignment that is very frustrating and many people have a hard time with. It was a very tricky assignment and quite time consuming. My final product could've been better if I had had a little more time, but it isn't too bad. I'm just glad the assignment is over! Phew! Now on to the next!

Primitive Theater

This is our Primitive Theater assignment for Computer Animation. We had to create a ten second scene/story with characters that were primitive shapes, i.e. a blob, a person like character with stubs, or a primitive object. I decided to make a story involving two cacti. Enjoy

Gorilla Quadraped

This assignment was for Traditional Animation and we had to design an animal character that walked on all fours. Yes, I know that gorillas don't always walk on all fours, but they do sometimes. The second part to the assignment is to do an exaggerated walk, run, etc...of some sort. That will be due in the next couple of weeks and will post it then. Enjoy!

First Computer Animation- Ball Bounce

Here it is! My first computer animation! It's been a long time coming, but this is it. Our assignment wasn't just a basic ball bounce, but we had to have one self motivated, or a ball that was alive, and a plain ball. They could do anything, but the plain ball had to at least stop in the frame. It could only be 10 seconds, which at points didn't seem like enough, but I got it done and it looks pretty good. So here it is, my first computer animation. Enjoy!

Character Pantomime

Here is my pantomime. The assignment was to have a character come into the scene and interact with an object. There also had to be a clear change in emotion. I decided to have a little guy and a paper airplane. It isn't amazing, but I'm happy with it, besides the run at the end, which I will hopefully be changing and fixing soon. Anyway, enjoy!

Sketchbook!

So I've been doing a lot of sketching lately. I bring my sketchbook everywhere with me, I mean everywhere. I've really started to notice an improvement in my skills even since just the beginning of this school year. I'm surrounded by very talented artists and they help push me to be better. These sketches are all from my sketchbook and some aren't very good, but they're on the same pages as others, so I left them. Enjoy! There'll be more soon, hopefully!

Here is my first very basic walk cycle of the year for Traditional Animation II. It's nothing special, but our teacher just wanted us to get warmed up with it and use our character that we are using for our pantomime project, so that we could get used to the feel of the character. It didn't take long to get back into the swing of things and this walk cycle wasn't hard at all.

It's a whole new year!

With the start of a new school year comes new attitudes and new work. This year I'm feeling great and rearing to get further into the CA dept. I'm taking three CA courses this semester: Computer Animation I, Traditional Animation II, and Concept and Development. We're only one week in, but the classes and teachers are great! I hope to really improve this year and I've already notice a change in my work from last year. Keep watching for new posts of work.

Character Scene

As the end of the year came around, so did stress!...Mostly caused by this! It was our final traditional project for the semester. Our requirements were to make a 10-20 second scene with our character. In the scene our character (Flint) had to have at least two expressive poses and he had to jump at least once. I decided to make Flint jump out of a plane. Although he does end up jumping, it is after some debate and gathering of courage. Unfortunately...he forgot the most important thing, nope not his parachute, for the plane to leave the ground! Oh ya, we also had to incorporate one sound effect, unfortunately it isn't working on here or at least it wasn't for me. Maybe it will for others, so unmute and see what happens, otherwise, imagine a whistle and a splat as he bounces out of the plane. Enjoy! Leave comments too! Crit is always helpful!

Character Walk, Run, Skip

Here ya go! This is my character walk, run, and skip. Each one is fairly short, so I have looped it a couple times. (yes they match up that well!) Some of these were very troubling for me because of the design of my character. I've now learned that long necks=bad! Trying to get his head to be a good secondary motion to the body was very tricky! I even stumped my teacher! (that's pretty much impossible...i think i was in shock the rest of that day!) Well anyway, here they are so check them out and let me know what you think!

Alright, so I didn't want to bombard my blog with lots of posts right at the beginning, but I really want to get all of these up. These videos are all from my Traditional Animation course. The assignment was to take our bouncing balls (which was the previous assignment) and attach a tail to each. The first one I did was a horse tail, followed by an elephant tail, and finally a skunk tail(kind of ironic I got a skunk huh?). Overall I feel really good with how these all turned out. Hope you all feel the same!

Character Design!!!

Alright, so this is for my Traditional Animation course. Everyone in my class was assigned an animal to create a character out of. I received a SKUNK! PU! Actually, it didn't stink at all, he was a lot of fun to create! Now that I have his design made, I have to animate him. We have to make our character walk, run, and one other type of gait. I haven't figured out what to make him do for the third... If you don't know what a gait is, it is what a walk or run or skip or stomp is... So if you have any ideas, leave one! Enjoy my character!

First blog ever!

Alright, so this is the first time I have ever had a blog, so you'll have to excuse while I get used to the whole thing. Anyway, the reason I got it together is so that people can see the work I'm doing because frankly, I don't have enough time to make a webpage right now!
